Philosophy of Educating Children:

Recognition of the importance of the early years in the life of a child is not new.  Since the time of Plato and Aristotle, a deep concern for the educational welfare of young children has been formost in the thoughts of philosophers and educators.

In evaluating the effects of early childhood programs, the crucial element among many studies is the quality of learning.  Facilitating learning as a process should be emphasized. All areas of development: cognitive, physical, social, emotional, should be included to accommodate the interests and needs in a child’s diverse society.

Education: M.S. Early Childhood Education: Nursery- 6th Grade (1981)

Prior to joining Stagg Street Day Care, I have taught for 2 years with 4 year olds at Parkway Private School of the Bronx, New York.

Originally from Queens, New York, I am a graduate of Queens College, where I studied Early Childhood Education and Art Education.  In addition to teaching, I am on the Board of Directors of the Flushing Soap Box Derby as well as a soccer mom.  Caring for my 90 year old mother, 16 year old son and supporting various community events occupies my extended time.  I am a good listener with an exceptional sense of humor and I am most inspired when working with young students.
